With our orbitals we have transferred the “tailored principle” to rotation-symmetric components. The difference: Instead of flat blanks now tubes used. The advantages remain: Weight reduction, cost savings and functional optimization.
A round piece of work
Tubes with different diameters, wall thicknesses or materials can be combined in an individual tailored orbital TO tube. In this way a new category of tube precursor material was created. A great variety guarantees opportunities of application in different fields of business both in automotive components and general industry.
And that’s how it works
Tailored Orbitals® are tubes frontally joined from single segments from tubes of continuous manufacturing. So, its construction can be optimized exactly to the designated use case. The properties of the tubes are optimized by optionally lower weight or higher stiffness. Furthermore the variety is increased by standardized precursor materials. The insertion of different materials in a TO-tube facilitates new ways of construction. Logistic advantages can be achieved by substitution of several short tube segments by a bigger TO-tube.
